Grease dumped down the drain causes many problems downstream and becomes very costly.  These costs are passed on to the user.   Some of the costs that are incurred:

• Extra cleaning of lift stations.

• Vacuuming the grease and fats.

• Landfill costs.

• Machinery replacement costs.

• Cleaning of the lateral sewer lines.

• Supplying extra labor costs.

All of these costs are passed on to the utility customers.  Being a better steward in what you put down the drain  "Saves you Money!"

Kandiyohi county residents can dispose of cooking oils, free of charge,  at the City of Willmar Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 1400 SE 7^th Street.  These can be vegetable oils, peanut oils, canola oils and soy based oils.
