Public
Education |
|
Captain Terry Spieker serves as the department's
Community/Public Education Liaison. Throughout the year,
especially around Fire Prevention Week, Captain Spieker visits the elementary
schools throughout the community in an effort to spread the message of
fire safety. Since our program began, the number of child-set
fires in the area have dramatically decreased.
Numerous station tours are given throughout the year
along with fire safety presentations. These events seem to
have a good impact on young children as they get the opportunity to see
the fire trucks and the firefighters' gear.
