Willmar Ave SW (18th-22nd
Street)
According to officials for the City of Willmar, street reconstruction
will start on October 3, 2009, on Willmar Avenue SW from 18th Street SW
to 22nd Street SW in Willmar.
The project calls for the reconstruction of the entire roadway of
Willmar Avenue SW between 18th Street SW and 22nd Street SW. Traffic
will not be allowed in the construction zone. The traffic control will
be in place starting October 3, 2009. Residents and motorists may
encounter minor delays. Motorists are advised to slow down for their
safety and the safety of others. Weather permitting; the City
anticipates that construction will be completed by November 13th.
The prime contractor for the project is Duininck Inc. of Prinsburg,
Minnesota.
County Road 24/41
The Kandiyohi County Public Works Department office
in Willmar announced today that reconstruction work will begin June 1,
2009 on Kandiyohi County Road 41 (CR 41) from the south junction of CR
24 near Foot Lake, north to CR 25 near King Lake. The work on CR 41 will
also close the north junction with CR 24 at CR 41 northwest of Willmar
Lake. The closure of CR 41 will require detouring of CR 24 in its
entirety. Portions of the detoured routes will remain closed over the
construction season. Other parts of the road will be reopened to traffic
as they are completed. Once reconstructed CR 41 is open to traffic, CR
24 will be rebuilt between CR 41 and the golf course.
The various detour routes carrying traffic around the project involve CR
25, CR 5, Gorton Avenue, Ella Avenue and Business 71-23.
The reconstruction work, including most bituminous surfacing, will be
completed this construction season. The final layer of bituminous
surfacing, including adding bituminous shoulders and surfacing the bike
trail will be done next year.
Motorists are reminded to slow down for their safety and the safety of
the workers as construction continues. Duininck Inc. of Prinsburg is the
prime contactor and Thielen Construction Company Inc. of Eden Valley, is
the subcontractor for grading the project.
Highway 23/71
Mn/DOT is proposing improvements to the 3.5-mile common section of Highway
23 and Highway 71 (known as “Highway 23/71”). The project corridor extends
from the Highway 23/71 split in Dovre Township to the southern split of
Highway 23/71 and Business 71 in the City of Willmar.
